- When not being assessed, your jewellery is securely stored in our safe.
How Long Does a Valuation Take?
Standard Service
• Valuations typically take 4-7 working days.
• For 10+ items, we will provide a custom timeframe upon drop-off.
Priority Service
• Completed in 1–2 days.
• Priority valuations must be booked at least two working days in advance.
• Items dropped off by 10am
Valuation Process (Step-by-Step)
Initial Assessment
When your items arrive at our office at Level 3, 257 Collins Street, we discuss the purpose of your valuation and conduct an initial assessment.
We identify any immediate concerns, including wear and tear or damaged gemstones. You will then receive a receipt that includes:
- Your contact information
- A brief description of the item
- The valuation type
- The expected completion date
Cleaning & Testing
Ultrasonic cleaning removes dirt and residue that may affect accurate gemstone grading.
Gemstone testing helps confirm whether diamonds and gemstones are natural or synthetic.
Metal purity is assessed using suitable methods, such as XRF analysis or acid testing.
Detailed Analysis
Diamonds are evaluated using the 4Cs: colour, clarity, cut and carat weight.
Gemstones are assessed according to their colour, inclusions and quality of cut.
Carat weight is established using professional measuring equipment or recognised calculation methods.
Professional Report Issued
Mount quality and craftsmanship are assessed according to the materials, manufacturing method and setting quality.
The final valuation considers:
- Diamond and gemstone value
- Metal purity and weight
- Manufacturing quality
- Finishing, polishing and plating
Delivery & Client Review
A complete written description of each item is included in the professional valuation report.
Your jewellery is photographed for accurate identification and documentation.
All items are stored securely in our safe until they are collected.
